Any hotel booking that bypasses the internal portal is essentially unauthorized use of the rate, raising the verification risk significantly at luxury/full-service Marriott properties."

"I used the Google rate for the Ritz in Tokyo and was asked to send an e-mail from a corporate account. I don't work for Google so I just told them to charge me the regular room rate. The front desk person said okay. When I checked out, they had kept the corporate rate."

"Yes. 75% of the time when I travel for work. I also have a company card so usually that takes care of the identification aspect. One time my I couldn't find my Corp card and didn't have my badge on me at check-in. Had to take the current rate offering but when I visited the desk again with my card they adjusted it all.
