"Raytheon's Marriott code 9753 is a defense contractor code. Defense company codes at Marriott receive moderate scrutiny — defense employee IDs are typically security-badged and distinctive. Properties near Raytheon locations (Tucson AZ, McKinney TX, Waltham MA, El Segundo CA) regularly process defense contractor travelers. No specific Raytheon ID denial incident found in FlyerTalk, but FlyerTalk notes that defense contractor codes "tend to face more questions at full-service properties near major installations." US select-service: essentially no enforcement."

"I don't do mobile check-in if I'm wanting to upgrade. I check the app before I go in to see if any suites are available to book during the duration of my stay. If there is I just say "Would it be possible to get upgraded to an available suite with my platinum benefit?". Of course this is typically at the hotel that I stay in about once a month for 3 day at a time for work. The front desk pretty much knows me and know that I am fairly low maintenance."

"I used to work night audit at a 4 diamond Marriott resort. It was me, an 80 year old valet who just slept in the cars, and a 4'11" security guard. She wouldn't check anything out because "I'm a woman. If there's someone there, they could attack me." So I, the 19 year old woman, would investigate. Guest needed towels? I brought them. I would have to go up to a computer room to run some of my reports. I occasionally had to pee, because I'm selfish like that. So whenever I was gone from the front desk, it was just unstaffed. It sucked."
